Graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accounting, Chen obtained the CPA designation in 2017.  After working at several accounting firms in the GTA, Chen joined the Stern Cohen team in 2022 and became a manager in 2025. She successfully completed CPA Canada’s In-depth Tax Program (IDTP) in 2025.

As an active member of our tax specialist team, Chen provides excellent guidance and support to both clients and our wider team.

Outside of the office, Chen enjoys time with her family snowboarding and skiing in the winter and exploring parks in the summer.

Did you always want to be an accountant?

Initially my parents recommended it for me. Then I took a course in high school that sparked my interest. I thought the trial balance was magical and I was fascinated with how it worked.

What’s the most rewarding thing about being an tax specialist?

It’s satisfying to understand tax returns and to solve issues and problems when clients receive assessments.

What’s different about Stern Cohen?

When I read the job description it mentioned that Stern Cohen would sponsor a tax specialist to complete the In-depth Tax Program. It was the first I had heard about this program. After three years of intense study, I’ve completed it and I have a strong understanding of tax and the Canadian Tax Act. It’s been a rigorous and rewarding journey!
