Stern Cohen is thrilled to welcome Nishant to our leadership team as Manager in our Owner-Managed Business Accounting practice.

Nishant’s enthusiasm for entrepreneurship is a lifelong endeavor. Since the age of ten, Nishant helped his family with their own business ventures, working the register, taking inventory and stocking shelves. He understands the hard work and dedication it takes to start and operate a small business and as a result he is now passionate about helping Stern Cohen’s business owner clients grow and achieve their goals!

Nishant graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree with a major in accounting from Ontario Tech University in 2012, embarking on a unique career path of personal and professional growth to gain a broader perspective before pursuing his career in accounting. Nishant obtained his CPA designation in 2021.

A car enthusiast at heart, Nishant enjoys being part of Toronto’s automotive scene attending events ranging from Sunday morning Cars & Coffee to the annual Canadian International Auto Show. He has turned his passion for cars into accounting expertise as well, working with car dealerships and car dealership owners on their financial statements, tax compliance, tax audits, review engagements and the adoption of bespoke accounting software. Nishant’s car dealership niche expertise is greatly appreciated by car dealership owners who recognize that an accountant with industry knowledge will be a valuable trusted advisor.

Outside of work, Nishant likes to spend time with his family learning something new by doing at-home science experiments, tinkering with old computers, and watching movies with a bucket of popcorn!

What influenced you to join Stern Cohen?

The knowledge and dedication of the people. I’m able to learn from the firm’s partners and my colleagues, contribute to the team’s success in a meaningful way, and continue to develop my own expertise as an accountant.

What attracted you to public accounting?

Coming from an entrepreneurial family, I truly appreciate the hard work and dedication that it takes to run a business. As a result, I have always wanted to be in a position to help business owners improve their businesses and boost their profits. Being a public accountant means I get to work with and support many Greater Toronto Area business owners. At the end of the day, making a difference is rewarding!
