Laura is highly regarded for her natural leadership abilities and positive, can-do attitude. As Manager of Stern Cohen’s Not for Profit Practice Group, she focuses on providing charities and nonprofits with a range of accounting services including audit, tax, advisory and outsourced accounting and bookkeeping.
Laura joined Stern Cohen in early 2013 as a co-op student advancing through more responsible roles in the Assurance and Nonprofit departments to become a Manager in 2019. Laura graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2015 with an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting with distinction. She received her CPA, CA designations in 2017. More recently, Laura was certified as a ProAdvisor for QuickBooks Online.
Laura’s proven track record within the industry has earned her a position as a Member of the Board of Directors for Villanova College, with the additional responsibility of serving on both the Finance and Audit Committee and the Strategy Committee.
When Laura is not at the office, she loves to travel and is an avid sports and reality television fan. You might find her at a Pilates class, watching the Detroit Red Wings hockey team, or discussing the most dramatic rose ceremony yet!
It all started back in high school when I really enjoyed volunteering for a number of community organizations. Now, in my career as a not-for-profit specialist, I feel like I’m a part of each organization we work with – helping to support their many noble causes in a finance role.
Clients will find that we always put their needs first and that they are getting excellent service. They also benefit from our team approach in that there is always someone available to assist them. I find that our clients are extremely appreciative of the value we provide and that’s very rewarding.
