2017 Provincial Budget Commentary

On April 27 2017, our Provincial Government presented its 2017 Budget “A Stronger, Healthier Ontario.”

The deficit for the 2016-17 fiscal year is projected to be $1.5 billion, with a balanced budget projected for 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20.

The Budget does not include any changes to Ontario’s personal or corporate income tax rates.

Three new tax credits have been introduced:

  • Ontario Seniors’ Public Transit Tax Credit
  • Ontario Caregiver Tax Credit
  • Medical Tax Credit for Fertility-Related Expenses
